The existence of the Coteri has remained hidden for centuries…until now

He would protect her with his life…

Mathias has been ordered to protect Mina Roarke at all costs while keeping her Father’s secrets concealed. But from the moment he sees her, the hunger he’s desperately tried to bury, roars to life. The beast within is awakened and wants only one thing…Mina.

But when his enemies target her life, Mina and Mathias become caught in a lethal game of revenge. To save her, Mathias must not only expose the truth…but also what lies deep within him.

She was just looking for answers….

Mina had always been told she was special. In what way, she never fully understood until her life and everything she thought she knew and believed in was turned completely upside down.

After the unexpected death of her mother, Mina finds clues about her past that trigger more questions than answers. Her quest to find those answers thrusts Mina deep into the Black Forest of Germany and into the arms of a man who tests her control…in more ways than one. She is wrenched from her own reality into a world filled with adrenaline-charged danger, blazing sexual heat, and the answers that have been hidden her entire life.

Mina alone holds the power to change her future but when she comes face to face with ultimate betrayal, can she still trust in the one man that has captured her heart?

My Ratings....

The fascinating and secretive world of the Coteri Kingdom and their Valta nemesis was hard to put down. These shifters are unique. They aren’t limited to one animal form. Although, they tend to shift to their most familiar one more often.

Mina is devastated by the death of her mother. Even more so when she finds a hoard of letters written to her mother from her non-existent father. She is struck numb with the realization that not once in her 28 years did he bother to contact her.

Julia rarely spoke of Mina’s father. It seemed too painful for her when she did. On those rare occasions Mina could get her to share a story or two,  Julia would talk of a man larger than life. Tall, dark and protective, he seemed to be every woman’s fantasy come to life. She had always wished she could at least see a photo of him or know more about his family and background, but Julia only revealed enough to let Mina know that the man who had fathered her was one of honor, devotion and love.

Mina’s heart breaks remembering the time her mother sat gazing out the window, lost in her own thoughts. She sets out on a quest to find her father – to ask “R”. Why.

Mathias, fearless Coteri General of the King’s Warriors, is chosen to protect Mina. He takes his position and duties very seriously; ensuring Mina is safe from the Valta threat. What he doesn’t expect is the animalistic attraction he has for her.

For the life of him, he couldn’t help himself. Her hair was long, lush and beautiful, and he itched to run his hands through it. Dark brown curls had bounced in the middle of her back as they had walked back to the hotel. She smelled like lust. Her face was pale and freckled and all he could think of was looking into those deep chocolate brown eyes while he plunged deep inside her, taking her hard and fast.

Their desire leads to a combustible passion that is forbidden by Coteri Law.

This book rocks! It just does it for me! INFINITE BETRAYAL gave me everything I look for in a great story: In-your-face characters, a worthy antagonist, realistic dialogue, captivating plot. When I turned the last page, damn, I wanted more. NOW! The secondary characters are vibrant. True Coteri Warriors, Tre and Talon, with hearts of gold.

Her gaze went to the big one. He must have been over six five and two hundred and eighty pounds. And from the looks of him, he was all muscle and attitude. Hell, as big as he was, she’d be surprised if he didn’t have to turn sideways to get through a doorway. She looked him up and down. He wore soft, tight black leather pants, biker boots and a heavy black leather jacket she immediately thought had to have been specially made for him. No way a coat that size could be purchased off the rack. He looked hard and extremely striking. Long wavy black hair brushed the tops of his shoulders and his eyes were the color of the ocean. He had a goatee, but Mina also noticed a day or two had probably passed since he last shaved the rest of his face. His hands were massive and rough looking. Well used.

King Roderic despairing over the choices he made. Valencia and Luca, the Valta, power hungry to rule. Chloe, Mina’s BFF, the only person she truly trusts.

I must warn you though. There is one part in the story when Mina is held captive. During this time she is brutalized, but not raped. If you find this offensive, just skip over it and don’t read it. You will still get the full scope of the story and the characters. However, I found it added greatly to the development of a central character.

Ms. Donnelly and Ms. Mackenzie are currently working on Talon and Chloe’s story, INFINITE SURRENDER. Write faster!

Review Deceptions Of Night by Virginia Cavanaugh

Title:Deceptions Of Night

Genre: Paranormal romance- shifter and vampire
Length: Novella
Authors website

Tempers run hot through the members of the Order of Night as Lex tries to settle in as the new Triad vampire. But when a jaguar attacks him in his bed, his life gets turned upside down, and he discovers a new meaning to keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

Kill the triad vampire or your brother dies. Shayla grudgingly accepts the assignment. But she soon realizes that success is easier said than done as she lies prone, trapped against the floor and secured by the body of one pissed off sexy leech.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Lex wants answers, and Shayla wants her brother returned alive. They form a shaky truce as they seek out the man who has both. Fierce attraction pushes them closer as mistrust tears them apart. Deception lays in wait around every corner as they struggle to find the mastermind behind the traitors to the Order of Night. As the tension rises, desire begins to burn with an intensity that threatens to consume, leaving them to question whether they can find what they seek with their lives and hearts intact.

Deceptions of Night is the second book in the Order of Night Book series. If you liked book one, you’ll like book two. The author keeps the same pace with the world and it’s really working well. I loved how the author brings about the way the hero and heroine meet and fall for each other. The growing romance is very good along with the hot heat the author adds between them. I felt like the author could have expanded more in the enemies area. The scenes between the two felt a little rushed. All in all the author has wrote another good book for this series and I am looking forward for the next installment.

“What answer would that be? Why I’m trying to kill you or am I going to show you a good time? Because I would say your body is asking its own set of questions right now,” she bit out, trying to ignore the fact that his movement had only served to bring his pelvis to set more firmly against her ass.

“Har har, lil puddy tat. I assure you that even though my body might have a mind of its own; it doesn't mean that my brain is in my cock. I want to know why you were trying to kill me. But if you’re offering to show me a good time, I might take you up on it, if I can forgive you that is.”

“Dream on, leech.”

Review Overlord: Fringe by Anitra Lynn McLeod

Title: Overlord: Fringe, Book 2

Genre:; Sci-Fi Romance
Length: Novel

Release date May 3, 2011

His planet is his prison…and only she can set him free.

The Fringe, Book 2

After a year, Michael “Overlord” Parker finally knows who’s been pilfering his black market goods. Astonishingly, the elusive Bandit of Taiga isn’t a man. It’s a woman, an infuriating spitfire who’s half in love with Michael’s overly romanticized reputation.
Remarkably Average Mary exudes an intoxicating scent that Michael can’t quite puzzle out, even with his unique ability. As long as she remains bound and blindfolded, he has the advantage—and the bonus of tormenting the bane of his existence.
Mary’s deceptively innocent face has never failed her. Yet somehow she’s at the mercy of a man she knows only as “Commander”. His demands are simple. Surrender her methods of banditry, or surrender her body. As his essence invades her intuitive ability—and her remaining senses—she becomes increasingly frantic to escape before she yields all that and more to her compelling captor.
Their sensual sparring ignites, and Michael finds himself wanting to erase Overlord’s myth from her fantasies in favor of the real man. But first he has to foil the slippery little devil’s escape attempts. And find out who’s been using her to unknowingly help the empire wipe him off the face of his own planet.

Warning: This futuristic medieval contains a planet-owning alpha hero, a feisty heroine who can swear in over thirty languages, a side-kick with a crackleseed addiction, witty repartee, epic space battles, sensual karate, and tight black leather pants.

Overlord is pure explosive! Yep, the hero and heroine are full of explosive complications between each other and themselves. I really loved the beginning and the ending, but with all the back and fourth between these two it dragged in the middle for me. You get two tortured characters along with danger, adventure, hot sexual tension and some great sex.

Even with the back and forth relationship this book, it’s very well written, the dialogue and story are very compelling and fun at times. The heroine Mary is a very strong kick butt character with major issues from her past. The hero Overlord is one hard core alpha character who also has major issues from his past also. Both of them are drawn to each other in a very different way. They just have to come to the understanding they need each other. I loved how the author wrote Mary already having day dreams about Overlord before she even met him.

Few spoilers below!

I want to tell some on what many of you may not like and please don’t take this as I am downing this book because I am not. I believe in letting people know what’s in a book in case they don’t like this stuff they can opt to not try it and if they did at least they were warned, so in saying this I want to add a warning. This is not your typical hero or heroine romance love fest read. The back and forth relationship does drag on and the language the heroin throws at the hero I felt sorry for him at times and it can get on someone’s nerves after reading this for a period of time. Overlord at first physically fights with Mary. Yep, he is tormented alright. He puts Mary in confined rooms and sometimes locks her down to the bed. He also puts a bracelet on her so she can’t hit him or escape, but believe me she does and gets by with it, thanks to her crafty ways LoL. You may feel sorry for Mary after reading this, but Mary is dangerous whatever Overlord throws at her she takes in and uses it against him, so what goes around comes around. *at times I was yelling, “Go Mary!”* Besides he always goes and gets her when she runs, so he deserves it LOL.

All in all even though these two got on my nerves at times, the author ties everything in very well and keeps it interesting if you like this kind of read. I recommend this to a reader that loves the challenge of reading tortured leads with lots of complications thrown in.

My Review

When I read the synopsis that this book is about vampires playing in a rock band wearing black leather pants and speaking with a British accent I was excited to read it. I couldn't wait to read all the enticing details that this image conjured up in my mind. Though I enjoyed the premise of the book and the whole rock and roll thing I felt at times something was missing.

I loved how the author described some of the vampires and mortal males in the story as drop-dead sexy who could make you melt with their eyes. However I did have problems with the inconsistent and irrational behavior of the leading females in the story, Kat and Nina. Without spoiling the plot I found myself confused by Kat's reaction to the situations around her. One moment she fears the vampire before her and in the next moment she wants him and then gets angry when he turns away from her at one point. This was just one example of how Kat's behavior didn't flow smoothly and how some of the scenes had holes in terms of transition.

There were points in the story that I wondered who was the lead character as at times the secondary characters took center stage. It made it difficult to really get into the characters' mind and develop a connection with them. Yes the characters "did" alot in terms of situations in the story but I never got the sense of "who" they were and "why" they behaved the way they did.

Kat and Nina are two females who at the start of the novel were quite independent and capable of handing any situation, but later on loose that strength in their personality. I never really got to know them. I knew their background and what they did, but beyond that I didn't know what they thought and felt. Their were times they reacted in a knee-jerk fashion to situations that didn't resonate with their earlier image at the beginning of the story.

Joe and Philip are the two sexy, British vampires that front the rock band and gain the attention and affection of Kat and Nina. While I loved the sex scenes that each couple had I couldn't help feel that something was still missing. The way that both Kat and Nina fell for the vampires just seemed to fast and and lacked substance in understanding the development of their attraction. A particular situation between Philip and Nina confused me. In the story we are introduced to Philip's "need" for this mysterious woman in his dreams that he must find in order to help him gain his strength and for his survival. Why Nina, what is the connection and how they have that connection is never explained. It would have been interesting to know the how and why of this connection since we find out a little later on that Nina has been having the same dreams of Philip. Again how and why?

Despite the flaws in the story I do hope the author continues with this series, but puts more emphasis of developing the characters and allowing them to grow and to tell their story.

The afternoon is an initiation into the pleasures of the flesh, but sadly all good things must come to an end. Life is about to hand Meredith another surprise which will open yet more doors to her own sexuality.

Review Rating: 3 - One good howl
Sexual Rating:  HOT!

Interesting take on the green emeralds folk lore from the Egyptians mythical magic. The story was full of explicit erotic sex scenes brought on by the green emeralds. However, once again I felt from this author that the passion between the characters was missing mainly because I felt it was one sided due to the man Connor being in control of every sexual move. It was almost too mechanical for my taste. It was a cute story but didn't Wow me over. Not bad for a free read from Amazon Kindle.

Review Rating:  3 - One good howl
Sexual Rating:  HOT!

Although only 41 pages in length, this is a hot little tale of smokin’ beach sex with a stranger. Yes, we all know about the “stranger danger” rules, but this erotic tale is sure to please. After all, it does have a HEA, and it will leave you contemplating the magic and allure of emeralds.

Review Rating:  3 - One good howl
Sexual Rating:  HOT!

A good short erotica story. Interesting history on emeralds. Really hot sex between Meredith and Connor. I was happy that even though Connor was the instigator he still had doubts of his own. A solid 3 stars for a short, sexy story.

Review The Highlander and the Wolf Princess by Marguerite Kaye

Title:The Highlander and the Wolf Princess
Author:Marguerite Kaye
Source:  Requested review
Genre: Paranormal romance- wolf
Length: Novella
Authors website

Scottish Highlands, 1705
Sorcha Tolmach, Princess of the Faol, possesses the power of the wolf and the otherworldly allure of her legendary clan. But she also longs for more freedom than she could ever find in her brother's court. Impulsively running away to the Highlands, she doesn't anticipate being wounded and confined to a ramshackle castle by Conall Macpherson, Laird of Kilfinnan. Sorcha senses only darkness in the rugged, forbidding man's future—so why does she still feel a passionate yearning to become his mate?

The Highlander and the Wolf Princess is the last book in the Legend of the Foal trilogy. This one is my favorite out of the trilogy, it was hot and dangerous. I really enjoyed reading Conall and Sorcha. The story had a mystery air about it and it made for all a better read for me. I recommend this series to all that loves a good historical and paranormal novella.

Sorcha needs some time alone, so she goes to the Highlands. While she is enjoying herself and senses no one around her she changes into her wolf form. All the sudden she is in middle of a dangerous moment and she finds herself shot.

Conall is tired of the wolf steeling his sheep. So he takes care of the problem at least he though he did until he seen what he shot was no wolf. Now, he has to help this lady and quick. What came out of this dangerous situation was an attraction nether one could stop.

Special double feature this month for New blood book blogger on the block

I have a special treat for everyone today. I have two close friends that have started book review blogs. I asked them if they would like to participate in the New blood book blogger on the block, of course, they said yes! So, please welcome Ronda aka Queentutt and Vanessa aka thejeepdiva.

theJeepDiva   reads a little of this and a little of that. She loves everything form Steven King to zombies, if you throw in some hot erotic sex she is good to go. I have to say though she is ready for the zombie apocalypse, so much so it wouldn't surprise me if she has a zombie monthly feature on her blog LOL. Oh snap, there you go chick a good idea for you lol.

Tell us a little about yourself?
I have an extreme case of CDO (yep, I alphabetized my OCD.) I love cruising country back roads in my Jeep with my camera and taking tons of photographs. I’m from South Louisiana, relocated to Tennessee in February of 2010. So everyone thinks I talk funny. I have been married for nearly 10 years and we have 8 fur kids. Oh, yeah…. I LOVE TO READ.

How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?

Started reading in high school, stopped for a bit during college, got back into reading when time allowed after college. I recently became a heavy reader again in the spring of 2009. The job I had at the time required me to be there for 40 hours even though I only worked probably 10-15 hours. The management did not mind if I brought a book to read. I have not gone back to work since my husband & I moved in January of 2010, so now I have an abundance of time to read.

My favorite genre is paranormal romance. I also read some sci fi romance and have recently become obsessed with zombie apocalypse. I also enjoy some urban fantasy. I am a huge Stephen King fan. I guess I am all over the place with the books I read.

When and why did you start doing book reviews?

I wrote a few reviews on prior to the starting of the blog. I noticed I was only reviewing books that I did not like (so not fair.) I’m going to guess that spring of 2010 I started reviewing all the books I read on goodreads. As to why, who knows, I have an abundance of time on my hands. How long have you been reviewing books?

I’ve been reviewing books for about a year now.

Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?
ABSOLUTELY! I keep them in a composition notebook. After I am done reading the book I move the important notes into my Collector Z book database under the appropriate book.
Why did you start a book blog?

One of the panels at Readers N Ritas Dallas 2010 was “Writing book reviews for free books.” That was what started the blogging. I now do the blogging because I enjoy the socializing with other book loving individuals. The beginning was hopes for free books.

How long does it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?
I can typically start a 400 page book in the morning when I get up and have it and the review finished by the time I go to bed that evening. This does depend on if my husband is at work and if I have to leave the house for some reason.

What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?
Name. I wanted some cute catchy name. Oh well. I’m the Jeep Diva, so I am just going to keep rocking that. I am still trying to figure out the whole button thingy. I WANT ONE and I have no clue how to make one. I even googled up several how to’s. I am oblivious on how to do it.

What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since your started your blog?
I did a happy dance all around my house one afternoon when an author commented on my Facebook page that she though the “About Me” on my blog was funny.

What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?
Yay for stalking posts. I have an abundance of spare time so I go to quite a few signings and book cons.

Any tips, for a new upcoming book blogger?
Do not buy the book Google Blogger for Dummies. EVERYTHING in that book is something that you can figure out easily on your own.

What are the most books you read in a week?
6 and in June of 2010 I read 27 books.

Quick questions
Spoilers or no spoilers?
Nope, I HATE spoilers. I will point out in a review that if I mention something it would be a spoiler, so I guess I am a bit of a tease…he he

Author interviews or guest post?

Not yet, I have had an offer for a guest blogger and I recently had an author offer to answer any questions I may have about her books in an email. I have been thinking about asking her to do an author interview on my blog. I was waiting to talk to my blogger guru friend Laurie at about some how to’s behind that.

Long reviews or short reviews?

That really depends on the book. I do tend to be lengthy though. I try to give an overall feel of the book, then what I thought of the main couple, and then I move into what’s next for that author/series.

Kindle or Sony -reader?

Kindle. The Hub bought it for me when I did NOT win a contest that I had entered on an author’s Facebook page. He felt that I should have been the winner, so he went out and got me one. He’s a sweetie!

Paperback or PDF?

PAPER. I like actual tangible books. I buy most of my books from used indie stores.

Queentutt You may recognize Queentutt, she has been a reviewer here on the blog for a while now. Her blog is all about romance *clears throat * I mean hot monkey sex LOL.Oh ya, your'll find all kinds of erotica on her blog with the added little of this and that.

Tell us a little about yourself?
Hi Laurie, thanks for having me on the blog.   My blog is called Queentutt’s World of Escapism    I am an avid reader who loves to blog and review the many books that I read.  I love focusing my life around entertainment whether it is through reading, movies, or music.  Life in general can be such a bummer at times and the best way for me to escape the insanity is through these entertainments.  Family is important to me too.  I have three grown children and they have currently blessed me with 3 grandsons.  I am married to my best friend and together we enjoy life as much as possible by traveling, fishing, gardening, animals, BBQ-ing, watching sports – especially football (Go Dallas Cowboys), and watching movies.

How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?
Growing up I wasn’t much into reading because of either sports or my military career but once I retired in 1998 my time seem to free up some and I would read about 3 books a year due to the kids being so involved in sports and school activities.  But then in 2006, the last kid graduated and I found myself with nothing to do so I started picking up books and reading constantly to fill the void of missing my kids.  So it’s been 5 years since I have steadily been reading. My favorite genres are Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Erotic.  I don’t really do Young Adult Reads and prefer erotica in most of my reads.  I do read M/F/M and M/M reads as well.

When and why did you start doing book reviews?
Actually, doing reviews was a natural thing for me to do because I consider it like taking notes to whether it was a good book or not and it reminded me what the book was really about.  Usually if I rated it a 4 or 5 star than I considered it a book I would probably read again.  Not only that but my friends could see what I thought about the book and then judge for themselves if they would enjoy it.

How long have you been reviewing books?
It’s been 5 years now and I will always review every book I look at.

Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?
Sometimes I do especially if it is a book over 500 pages.

Why did you start a book blog?
I started a blog because I was mainly posting my reviews on and then I started doing reviews for you Laurie (Bitten By Paranormal Romance) and found that I really enjoyed the interaction between the followers and the authors.  It’s a great feeling when you get wonderful comments regarding your reviews.  Then I enjoyed the interaction from going to other blogs and making comments on the different blogs.  So I figured I should start a blog on my own.  It’s not real big and it’s just for fun blog of the many things I enjoy.

How long does it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?
I can usually read a book within a couple of days and then it takes me about 30 minutes to write up a review and get it posted to the blog.  I think I am doing good when I push out 3 books a week and great when I do 5 books a week.

What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?
It can be time consuming especially in the beginning because of the learning how everything works concept of the blog.  I think the hardest thing to learn was finding the right gadgets, widgets, and different tools to use to make the appearance of the blog look nice.

What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since your started your blog?
The most exciting thing that has happened to me is getting followers and hearing back from the authors I have done a review for.  Their great comments is what makes me want to continue with the reviews I do and read more of their books.

What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?
I love music and erotic pictures and it is always neat when I come across something to share with my followers.  I am hoping to start doing some book giveaways soon and that is always fun to giveaway stuff.

Any tips, for a new upcoming book blogger?
Patience and time are a key factor in blogging.  It takes time to build up to how you want your blog to actually look like you want it and the more time you spend on it and the more money you put into it the better the success.

What are the most books you read in a week?
I think the most I read in a week was 5 books.  20 books a month.

Return of the Legacy by K.H. LeMoyne

Title:Return of the Legacy ( Book one in Portals of Destiny)
Author K.H. LeMoyne
Source: requested review
Genre: Fantasy romance/ paranormal romance
Length: Novel
Authors website
hree magical dimensions…Two mystical bloodlines…One undeniable destiny.

Born a magical empath, Logan MacKenzie has spent his life protecting his family from discovery. Evil has found them anyway. What begins as Logan’s search for answers on Earth becomes a race for survival in the magical dimension of Loci.

The battle to save those he cares about will reveal his true lineage—the bloodline of the Makir, one half of a pair of sentinels chosen to guard the mystical portals between dimensions. The price of his acceptance: a love he never imagined possible and a heartbreaking choice.

Her family attacked, her home destroyed, and now stranded on Loci, Briallen of Tir Thar, descendant of a magical race, has only to summon the power within her to return to her own dimension—or so she had hoped. Unfortunately, her powers aren’t cooperating, and the sorcerer bent on her family’s destruction will stop at nothing to possess her.

Raised without knowledge of the portals, the Makir guardians, or her own destiny, Bri takes a leap of faith in an alliance with Logan. Embracing an uncertain power and accepting his goals as hers offers her the only way home. If they fail, the consequences of allowing the portals to fall to evil are unthinkable—the destruction of every magical dimension throughout space.

Return of the Legacy is the first book of a new fantasy series by K.H. LeMoyne. The author has built nice worlds with great characters and powers and she explains everything very well. You get magic, mystery, adventure and different emotions. I really enjoyed how the author brought the hero and heroine together and I liked the powers she gave them, I felt it really suited the characters.

I had a hard time getting into the book at first because I’m more of a paranormal romance reader than a fantasy reader and this story is true fantasy. I know some paranormal readers can cross over to the fantasy I am one that just doesn’t care for fantasy much. The romance is slow because of the world build, but the author makes up for it in the emotions she adds to the story. All in all this is a good story.

Guest paranormal romance author Gabi Stevens

Please welcome romance author Gabi Stevens.

Having someone believe in you is one of the most important things in life, wouldn’t you say? So being a success and proving herself to her mother is important for the main character in my newest release, AS YOU WISH. Born into a magical family, Reggie Scott had no powers of her own; she was content to live her life out as a Groundling. Her parents, however, insisted on placing her in Arcani schools where she ended up in special ed. Eventually Reggie starts a bakery and hires two of her friends from school, Tommy and Joy.

Remember how I said that having someone believe in you is one of the most important things in life? Well, Reggie believes in Tommy and Joy. See, Tommy and Joy have special needs. Tommy has Down syndrome, and Joy has...well, Joy is just Joy. But they both have a flair for baking, and with Reggie’s supervision, they are capable of great things. It helps that they have magic, but Tommy and Joy can achieve independence because someone has given them the chance to show what they can do and hasn’t focused on what they can’t. And yes, except for the magic, they are realistic. You see, my daughter was the inspiration for Joy.

Like Joy, my daughter doesn’t have a diagnosis, but it wouldn’t matter anyway. She is who she is, and we celebrate her achievements, fight for her rights, and teach her everything we can. She is fiercely independent, makes her own lunches for school, sometimes cooks for herself, and is in charge of all batters and doughs in our house. I’m not trying to paint a completely idyllic picture here. Unlike Joy, my daughter is still a teenager, and like all teens, she can be surly and obnoxious. In fact she is more “normal” than not.

However, many people cannot see beyond her disabilities. But there is a group that’s determined to change the views about people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) one friend at a time. Best Buddies International has chapters throughout the world to provide friendships for people with IDD. That’s it. Friendship. My daughter has participated in Best Buddies™ for two years now. She has a buddy she goes to restaurants with, sporting events, dances, and even texts with (Yes, I had to get my daughter a cell phone now so she can keep up with her friends). This friendship has boosted her confidence and makes her feel more a part of her school and society. Best Buddies™ has programs in high schools, colleges, communities, and even work places. To find out more about them, visit their website at

So in honor of Tommy and Joy—and my daughter—I have pledged ten percent of my royalties from AS YOU WISH to Best Buddies™. I hope you will help me support this worthy group. Because everybody needs someone who believes in him. Even heroines. And heroes

The tougher they are, the harder they fall…

Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard and fast rule: business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he'll take the mission he's offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who'd had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare's tempted to combine work with pleasure.

Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she's uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful, estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all…

My Ratings

Dare heads south to Mexico to retrieve his friend Trace’s sister, Alani. Alani has been kidnapped by white slave traders. Once Dare arrives at his destination, he finds another woman who was being held, but not for the slave trade. Molly was kept separate from the other women. She was abused (not sexually), beaten and tortured. Mission completed and Alani returned home safely, Dare now has a “complication”. Molly wasn’t reported as missing and no one was looking for her. Dare decides to take her to his home. Molly promptly hires Dare to safeguard her and find out who would want her silenced.

The relationship between Molly and Dare develops quickly, even though Dare does not mix business with pleasure. He is the ultimate alpha male: Protective and possessive. But Dare is also gentle, giving and tender with Molly. To a point that she thinks Dare isn’t interested in her.

Not only was her hair frazzled and unkempt, but she had zip for makeup, and the physical mistreatment she’d suffered still showed in the hollowness of her eyes and the marks on her skin.

She looked as wretched as a woman could look, so why had she thought that Dare would want her? Her come-on had probably been embarrassing and uncomfortable for him.

Molly is strong and independent. At times, it gets irritating. Her favorite line is, “I’m fine.”

It annoyed Dare, the way she insisted that she felt fine. Anyone could see that the remnants of her nightmare still dragged at her.

The suspense is on the light side. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with a THAWAK!! Now, don’t get me wrong, this is a very good tale and the connection between Dare and Molly is scrumptious.

I’m hanging on by a thread here. I was just buying some time to get myself under control.

I just need more action/adventure/edginess with my suspense. Dare’s assistant and best friend, Chris, is one character that I would like to see more of. Unfortunately since Chris is gay, I don’t think Ms. Foster has a book on the back-burner for him. If you are a fan of Ms. Foster, by all means put WHEN YOU DARE on your TBR. The cover alone makes it a keeper!

ARC review As You Wish by Gabi Stevens

Title:As You Wish (Time of Transition #2)
Author: Gabi Stevens
Source: Requested review
Paranormal romance
Format: Mass paperback
Authors website
Release date April 26,2011

Regina Scott, known as Reggie, has made a successful life for herself despite her lack of magical powers. She is content to live out her life as a Groundling until the outgoing fairy godmothers tell her she’s the second new replacement. In the space of a few days, she faces a curse, a plot to overthrow the Arcani world, and an entirely too enthusiastic mother. And she doesn’t know which will be the most difficult to deal with. Can Reggie balance trust, magic, and danger and still find the happiness she deserves? (Formerly titled Spellbound)

As You Wish has magic, danger and mystery. I enjoyed the magical world Gabi created, it was very easy to read and understand how all of this magic works. As You Wish is a great story, I just wish it was more on the romance side.

Jonathan is two different people, so to speak. He lives as Nate during the day and Jonathan by night. He has to because of a curse. I did like the mystery behind the curse, but I didn’t like how it interrupted the romance between him and Reggie. Reggie is with her friend Nate during the day and with Jonathan during the night after she meets Jonathan around 70 pages into the book. So, I don’t get a feel for the romance between them because she is with Nate as a friend more than Jonathan.

All in all if you want a good paranormal read full with magic and mystery with a touch of romance and a little hot sex, this maybe for you.
