Strong-willed and independent, Paisley Nichols is used to taking care of herself. But when an insane mage begins tracking her every move and threatening her at every turn, she has no choice but to put her life in the hands of a demon.

Burned by betrayal, demon assassin Iskander won't get too close to anyone. He spends his days serving his warlord and his nights indulging in carnal pleasures . . . and that's exactly how he likes it. But when a mage wages a wrenching psychic assault on his beautiful tenant Paisley, Iskander must defend her. Under his protection, she will be drawn irresistibly into his life and learn about her own mysterious powers. And not a moment too soon. The mage haunting her isn't acting alone-and he won't rest until he destroys both Paisley and Iskander.

My Review:

This is the fourth in the Witches series. Mages, witches, demons, fiends, hot male bodies, oh yeah!

There is a nice Glossary before the story. I really love it when authors do this when they have created a new mythos or world. And being new to this series, it was especially helpful. I was a little concerned about not having read the first three books when I was asked to review this. Because of the way the story is written, had I not known this was a part of a series, I wouldn't have guessed. The book reads like a stand alone even though fans of the series will probably recognize a few of the things mentioned as being probably from an earlier story and I'm sure many of the secondary characters were introduced earlier as well.

Paisley is living her dream - she owns a bakery cafe - and suddenly finds herself very sick one day after receiving what she believed to be a static electricity charge when she and one of her hot customers accidentally touch.

Iskander, Paisley's landlord and "the most beautiful man [she's] ever seen", is a fiend - a subspecies of demon - who comes to the rescue when Paisley is dying from what he believes is an attempted demon possession. He thinks Paisley is "seriously, wickedly hot."

There is non stop action in this story and I read it in one day. I'd put it down only to find myself picking it back up shortly thereafter to see what happens next. This reminds me a little of a Kresley Cole Immortals After Dark story or maybe a Shayla Black Doomsday Brethren story as opposed to a straight witchcraft or magic story and that is a very good thing.

Seriously hot: sex up against a wall (she's just the right height), sex on a desk in a bakery (after almost getting kidnapped) and some hot tub sex (who needs water jets?). But in no way does the sex get in the way of, or slow down, the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the other books in the series.

  1. This looks like a good read :) I don't find too many demon books.. (besides Kresley Cole) and I loved those demons lol :P so its nice to have another to add to my list :) Thank you :) I'll have to check out the other previous 3 first though lol ;)

  2. "Who needs water jets?" Lol. Great review Wild about Bones. I love your name...Bones is one of my favs :D

  3. @Chelsea - I luv me sum demons too (well these kinds anyway). I'm sure you'll adore this book.

@redzsm - LOL glad you liked the review. Thanks on the name. Wish I could say it was original, but I saw someone else on another UF blog with the name WildAboutAnitaBlake and so I just borrowed one of favorite characters and WildAboutBones was born.
