Vampire Adrian offered Eliza a choice: die of a fatal illness, or become his consort and attend to his every need. Eliza chose life, but she did not expect to fall in love--and lust--with him....

Nothing compares to the erotic excitement of watching Adrian pleasure one of his many willing companions, but she's tired of waiting for Adrian to see her as more than his consort. She thinks she's ready to move on with her human lover, John--until Adrian surprises all three of them with a sensual encounter that changes everything.

My Review -

I have to say I am so glad I bought this book after reading a review on it here on Goodreads. Sometimes you hear good things and they don't turn out the way you hope, well this one exceeded my expectations.

This is one of those stories where two of the main characters are so afraid to give into their hearts that they end up feeling miserable and in the end think that it is best to part. NOOOOOO! This is not what I want to happen as it always tears me apart to read about a couple who obviously love each other deeply but don't have the courage or think they are doing the honorable thing by letting the person go.

Adrian and Eliza have been together for many decades and during that time each has craved for one another but have not acted out on their feelings. Why they haven't may be because of their arrangement or perhaps due to some feelings of being honorable, but in the end it has left both of them feeling alone and empty.

Adrian seeks women out to feed upon them and in return gives them earth-shattering orgasms, but the one he wishes more to have in his arms is Eliza. He feels in a way that he has condemned her life by being his consort (taking care of him and his household) when the alternative would have been death for her. Despite this he feels he cannot force his wants and needs upon her and keeps his yearning to himself while he watches as Eliza carries on with her life with her boyfriend.

Eliza may be alive because of Adrian and may have a boyfriend who loves her, is gorgeous, well-endowed and kind-hearted , however, she still feels miserable and her heart aches everytime Adrian brings someone home into his bed. She has taken into watching Adrian through a peephole as he satisfies the women in his bed and after so many decades Eliza can't take it anymore and decides that perhaps it is best to move on even though her heart aches at the thought.

This was an emotional read as the reader can see how they feel for each other, but neither one expresses their desires for each other. What happens next is some misunderstanding and an unusual situation where she, Adrian and her boyfriend have to face what they truly want.

I don't want to say anymore without spoiling it but lets just say that the tenderness that all the characters showed for each other was very touching and made the connection that they felt for each other much deeper.

I have to say if you want to read a book that has not only beautiful characters both inside and out but who also demonstrate loyalty, sacrifice, love and put other's needs above their own then you will enjoy this book.

I wished that it did not end so quickly and I would really like to see what happens next for all three of them.

  1. Love the review, Ollie girl! I saw this one and it looked really interesting. I will have to pick it up now, I love a really emotional read. :) Thanks!

  2. Hey Crystal!

It is a short book but it draws you in quickly as you desperately want them to have their happily ever after.
