Publication: June 29th 2012 by Breathless Press

Desperate times call for devilish measures… when the object of one's passion has eyes for another… it's time to take matters in hand!

Lady Vesta Chambers is accustomed to getting what she wants…Coddled and pampered, since her mother's death, Lady Vesta Chambers is beside herself when her father goes to London to prepare for her come-out and returns with a young bride of his own. With her world turned upside down, Vesta accompanies her godmother, Diana, to town, where she is smitten the moment she lays eyes on a certain captain of the Seventeenth Light Dragoons.

But when the object of her passion has eyes for another… Captain Hewett DeVere, younger brother and heir to Viscount Ludovic "The Devil" DeVere, has returned from the American war scarred, disillusioned, and looking forward to settling down to a quiet and respectable life. But when the handsome and straight-laced captain turns his eyes toward the widowed Diana, Vesta is prepared to take devilish measures to prove she is no longer a little girl, but a woman with the passion of …
a huntress.

“But it is so large and swollen, is it painful?
“No, just uncomfortable. Now, may we stop discussing my …” the appropriate word for feminine ears failed him.
“Phallus?” she offered. “That is what the grooms call it.”
“Why are you eavesdropping on grooms?”
“I used to watch the stallions leaping the mares.”
“You what!” Hew almost choked.
“Well, how else is a girl with no mother supposed to get any education? Although I doubt Mama would have told me very much. So there’s really no reason to be timid, Hew. I already know all about the mating process. And to the best of my knowledge, the stallions never ‘ignored it until it went away.’ Please feel free to relieve yourself of it. I would even help you if you would like. I’m not the least afraid for I have seen much larger ones.”

A few words from the lovely Ms. Vane:

THE DEVIL DEVERE series was such an incredibly fun experience to write, as it allowed me to span the entire romantic spectrum in 4 erotic historical novellas that combine to read as one continuous story.

A WILD NIGHT'S BRIDE with its mad antics lives up to its name, and I loved the hilarity and explosively passionate pairing of opposites with Hew and Vesta in THE VIRGIN HUNTRESS.

Books three and four (THE DEVIL YOU KNOW and THE DEVIL'S MATCH) will change tone completely to become dark and intensely erotic with the 2 part story of Diana and DeVere.

I hope you will all check out the excerpts to all four stories on my web site at http://authorvictoriavane.com.

A lover of history and deeply romantic stories, Victoria combines these elements to craft romantic historical novels and novellas for a mature reading audience. Her writing influences are Georgette Heyer for fabulous witty dialogue and over the top characters, Robin Schone , Sylvia Day, and Charlotte Featherstone for beautifully crafted prose in stories with deep sensuality, and Lila DiPasqua for creative vision in melding history with eroticism. Ms. Vane also writes critically acclaimed romantic historical fiction as Emery Lee

  1. I don't really have an all-time favorite romance couple, simply because 9 out of 10 romance books I read, I end up loving a lot.

  6. I have to agree with most of the others who have posted I like so many books and get lost in the story that it would be so hard to choose just one couple out of all those books. I do love all the Christine Feehan's Dark Series but I could never choose one couple I love all the books the same :)

  7. I have so many favorite romance couples. It all depends on what I'm reading at the time. Right now , I'd say my favorite couple is Riaz and Adria from Tangle of Need.

  9. Thank you all for your comments!

In the Devil DeVere series, I have three different couples between the 4 novellas and they are all so different, but I think my favorite has to be Vesta and Hew from THE VIRGIN HUNTRESS. They are polar opposites but really perfect for one another!
