A man of action…

After helping to break up a Russian human trafficking ring as part of the CIA’s elite Black Opal team, Alexei Nikanova’s newest assignment is to rescue one of the stolen women and return her to her father. When he arrives in Dubai, he discovers his target is Sasha Zablosky—a woman he knows all too well, and who has haunted him ever since their one unforgettable night together. But he finds Sasha reluctant to leave her Sheik, the only true friend she’s ever known. Only Alexei can’t give her a choice.

A woman of deception…

With their yearning roused by intrigue, Alexei and Sasha can no longer resist and spend night after night in forbidden pleasure. Soon Alexei finds himself falling for her even as he battles a shadowy menace to protect her. But Sasha is no innocent. She has a past darker than she could ever admit or that Alexei could ever forgive. And it is about to explode into her life once more. Now, as the lies they tell themselves—and each other—pull them deeper into a perilous desire, what began as simple passion becomes a love certain to destroy them and end the lives of countless innocents.

I had the privilege of reviewing the first book of this series Stripped when it came out. I loved the first book, and was very excited to be asked to review book two Lie to Me. I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed.

The book opens with Sasha being sold in a trafficking ring. Alexei's job is to deliver her safely to the person that purchased her. Sasha, known as Irina, instead of fighting against it, she accepts the situation in hopes she will be able to use it to escape her past.

A few years later Alexei is set on a new assignment. He must rescue one of the woman he helped send into the trafficking ring. In a wild night arranged so Alexei can save the woman, he realizes the woman he must rescue is Sasha. In moments Alexei's cover is blown and all hell breaks lose.

The story jumps right into the romance between Alexei and Sasha. Their chemistry is threw the roof and the affection the two feel for one another is shown in almost every touch and glance they share. The two now must learn how to trust one another to survive as they are being chased from every side they thought they were safe from, and a few they didn't know about.

Much like the first book of the series, Ms. St. Claire leaves the reader guessing on who to trust and who to be wary of. With every twist of the story more and more is revealed, but it isn't until you doubt everyone in the story that the true enemy is revealed.

The first half of the book is extremely steamy and a bit slow on the plot. The chemistry between the two main characters is so high they can't keep their hands off of one another. That being said I quite literally could not put the book down. I've read it twice before writing this review and both times I started and finished in the span of 5-8 hours. the characters are captivating and intriguing. They both annoy you with their unwillingness to accept the truth because they are convinced it is a lie, and make you smile once they realize how wrong they really are.  Once the second half of the book starts the steamier aspect slows down a bit so more and more of the suspense can be unveiled. Rather than give away the intricacies of the story line I will simply say this. This book, this series is worth every cent you will spend on it and more. I am eagerly awaiting the next book, and with any luck I'll get to review that one also.
