Interview with author Kaily Hart and giveaway

Would you tell us a little about yourself?
Gosh, I hate this question. That’s why I’m a writer. I get to make stuff up about others J. How about…I’m old enough to have figured out what I finally want to be when I grew up and still young enough to believe I can make a difference, to someone or something.

Do you have a hobby?
A what? LOL. With a hubby, four kids and a moody cat, I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies. What time I do have, I write! Although…I am somewhat obsessed with decorating.

When you're writing do you listen to music? If so, what are some of your favorite artists/albums/songs to write to?
Actually, when I’m writing, I like silence. Well, white noise is OK, but I’ve found music just too distracting. I know. I’m probably in the writer minority, right?

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Mmm, I probably have a lot of them, but tardiness if one thing that really annoys me. I know it makes me sound like a goody-two-shoes, but I think one of the best ways you can show respect for someone is by making the effort to be on time for them.

How long have you wanted to write professionally?
Um…what time is it LOL? Seriously, it’s only been recently where I decided I wanted writing to be my long-term career. I’ve been very fortunate in that the very first novella I ever wrote got picked up by a publisher. I’ve also been lucky in that I’ve already had one very successful career. It’s funny really, because five years ago I never would have considered becoming a writer.

Do you have a process in your writing routine?
If you could call it that. I have a very unusual process I’ve found. I just write and edit until I’m done. No draft. I also write with a method I call ‘writing all over the book’. I don’t write sequentially. I write whatever part of the book I’m thinking about at the time. I know, it sounds weird, but somehow it all works out in the end! My subconscious must be hard at work in the background.

Which of your characters do you relate to the most?
Funnily enough, I always feel more affinity with my heroes when I write. I just love writing in the male Point of View (POV). I think it would be true to say that each character has something of the writer in them, even if it’s miniscule. Of course, I’m not going to say which attributes my characters have that might be mine ;).
What are some of your favorite author’s and some of your favorite books you’ve read?
Some of my favorite authors to read are Jill Shalvis, Nalini Singh, Christine Feehan, Lora Leigh, Elizabeth Lowell, Linda Howard, Lori Foster, Dara Joy, Shannon McKenna… I really could go on and on. As to books, I have what I think of as ‘book blindness’. A book has to be exceptional to stay with me. Oh, I can remember I read it (usually) and I can tell you how well I liked it, but once I’m done with a book, I don’t remember any of the specifics, including titles. I speculate it’s because I have enough of my own stories in my head that I need to purge the information to make room for them.

Out of the books you’ve written, do you have a favorite hero or heroine? Is so, who and why.
You know, it’ hard to pick favorites. I’m usually engrossed in whatever heroine I’ve devised and totally in love with whatever hero I’m writing at the time.

Would you tell us a little of what you’re working on next?
I’m hard at work on the subsequent books in the Fabric of Fate series. Rise of Hope just released and I’m working on edits for book 2 (Renewal of Trust) and finalizing book 3 (Promise of Loyalty). I’m also working on a couple of steamy contemporaries and another paranormal premise. Oh and trying to stay off the internet. Working really hard at that!
