Deep within the primeval forests of southern England, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters lives hidden from the everyday world. Bound together by ancient bloodlines and a ruthless code of secrecy that punishes traitors with death, the Ikatisend their leader Leander on a mission to capture one raised outside the tribe before she can expose their secret. When Leander tracks the unsuspecting outsider to Southern California, the hardened warrior is prepared for a fight—but not for the effect the sensual young beauty has on his heart.

Jenna spent her childhood in hiding, on the run from someone—or something—her parents refused to discuss. She trusts no one, not since her father’s mysterious disappearance, not since her mother’s sudden death, and definitely not since she began exhibiting strange, superhuman abilities. When handsome, enigmatic Leander appears, promising answers to the mysteries that shroud her past, she knows she shouldn’t trust him either. But their connection is undeniable, and as powerful as the enemy hell-bent on destroying every one of their kind…

The first time Jenna's eyes meet Leander's " gave her a jolt of lightning to her toes." Jenna has been on the run, from who she isn't sure, From the time of her fathers disappearance until her mother drank herself to death. It had been drummed into her "If they ever find!" Now after seeing and feeling and smelling Leander across a parking lot Jenna has to wonder, why?

Leander is on a mission, a mission to pick up the half-breed daughter of a former alpha and bring her back. Upon tracking her to the parking lot of a grocery store he is positive they have found the right woman. He has tasted the scent of her and finds it "...lingering on his tongue like afterglow."

What a fantastic start to this really great book! It is rich in detail enough so that you can feel the characters. It is the first in a series and manages to set up the world these panther shifters(Ikati)live in as well as the past with out overwhelming the love story of Jenna and Leander. We have danger, intrigue, jealousy, tragedy, true love and steamy sex. The writing allows you to feel and understand both sides of every confrontation that occur between Jenna and Leander, you want to jump in and say your both right now kiss and make up because your perfect for each other.

This is a different and unique take on the shifter legends and Ms. Geissinger has created a hidden world in the heart of England (and a couple other places) that humans live along side but never realizing it is there. In addition to the Ikati being hunted there is the struggle from within for women to have more rights and freedoms.

I enjoyed this book immensely and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
