Bitten’s She-Wolf Pack Thursday Review + Giveaway for September – The Collector by Elizabeth Morgan

Title: The Collector (The Overseers,#1)
Author: Elizabeth Morgan
Source: Requested Review
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Length: Novella (111 pgs)

Fate is a delicate thing;
so what happens when a hole is ripped through the fabric of existence by one who isn't a part of fates plan?

After watching millions die, those human emotions are starting to take effect. Instead of collecting his next spirit from the car accident that is about to kill her, Kale saves her life. His punishment for ruining fate... is mortality.

Samantha hasn't been able to stop thinking about her beautiful hero. So when she stumbles across him, lying in a hospital bed with a small case of amnesia, she is more than happy to offer him her help. It's the least she can do to re-pay the man who saved her life.

Though Samantha soon learns that Kale isn't the guardian angel she thought he was, not to mention how far he has fallen to earn a place in her heart.

RATINGS and REVIEWS

Twigs Rating:

Rating 3 - One Good Howl
Sexual - Steamy

A short, sweet read about an angel who's only purpose was to collect the spirits of the recently dead, falls from Heaven when he cannot let a woman die. Not having anywhere else to go Samantha takes the some-how familiar Kale home until he is able to remember what happened to him and find his family. As they spend time together their feelings grow. A relationship is formed. This was a somewhat different take on angels. Although a short read it still had me wanting to know what would happen next.

Well for the other side of that "bad book" coin I got this one The Collector [The Overseers] to review and it turned out to be very good with a few notes. Once again you have the equivalent of "MINE" as the impetus of the romance in the too often used "I don't know why I love her" but at least this time it was given some time to mature and grow into something that even as PNR we can relate to for the story.

Samantha hasn't been able to stop thinking about her beautiful hero. So when she stumbles across him, lying in a hospital bed with a small case of amnesia, she is more than happy to offer him her help. It's the least she can do to re-pay the man who saved her life.

Though Samantha soon learns that Kale isn't the guardian angel she thought he was, not to mention how far he has fallen to earn a place in her heart."

The story is simple and if I want to say anything bad about it the ebook price for about 100 pages is $5 which is horrid in comparison to other, better works and it is neither lendable nor loanable on Amazon so while I seldom include price in my rating, it is a consideration.

You will enjoy the story, We have all the great things to make it good, huge sacrifice, life saving, bumbling lover, fallen angel, etc and it works . If you don't mind the price and want something around for a quick read when you are down or between books, this is a good choice. Hope I see more in this world, she does build a decent new unique world that should be fodder for future efforts.

Bottom Line: For 100 pages it is 4+ Star reading and you are not frustrated at the end but you do want to know more if she revisits these characters. Good HEA.

Cute little short book that reminded me alot of the movie City of Angels. Very heart warming and hopeful story to read between novels.

Kale, a collector of souls, is about to make his first mistake.  When he is sent to collect Samantha's soul, he finds himself saving her from death instead.  Now, this is a very very big no no.  His punishment is to fall, literally, from heaven and become a mortal.  Of course, he is put in a place where Samantha finds him.  They connect on a very strange level, as she is sure that she knows him from somewhere.  It was fun to watch him adapt to life as a mortal - needing eat, bathe, sleep, all those things that we do without really thinking about are new to him.  Samantha is there to help him every step of the way, and they slowly start to fall in love.

There was a little too much good in this for my taste.  I like someone to have a bit of a bad streak in them - even if it's just a little bit.  Parts of the story were a bit predictable and at times it was way to sweet for my tastes.

Nice story with a sweet romance. I liked the storyline and the way the author brought a different take on angles falling from grace finds their mate. I would’ve liked to have read a bit more tension between the characters, as in sexual and other because Kale did change everything for Samantha. I also wished the author would have gone into depth on how things were changed because of Kale actions. With characters that worked very well together and a good storyline I recommend this to anyone who wants a different take on angles.

I didn't know what to think about this story but I really enjoyed it. Perhaps what really got to me about this book was Kale's sacrifice for Samantha. Throughout his existence humans never stirred him until he saw Samantha and there was something about her that made him disobey orders and saved her life. He was drawn to her and as a result fell from heaven and the two of them discovered that they were connected to each other in more ways then one. It was interesting to read about the consequences of his actions and the danger that it placed the two of them in. However, the sweetest part of this story was their growing commitment to each other despite the dangers that their relationship placed them in. I would recommend this book if you love reading about angels falling from grace and discovery the joys of love, intimacy and passion against all odds.

Elizabeth lives in a small country village in Cheshire, England, with two cats. You will always find her on the computer, blasting music and writing away. She started life wanting to be an actress because she loved performing. She enjoyed nothing more than being able to make people laugh, to distract them from reality for a few hours. She studied Musical Theatre in college, but during her second year, her mind started to overflow with ideas for scripts and she began writing plays. Slowly over the following three years, she was writing more and more, channeling her imagination into more detailed manuscripts...

Here she is, years later, hiding away like a hermit, writing like crazy and loving every minute of it.
