Savannah Gentry, now Savi Baker, escaped the torture and degradation forced upon her by a sadistic father for eleven years and has made a safe life for herself and her daughter. When her father threatens her peace of mind—and her daughter's safety—Savi runs to Damián Orlando for protection. Their one day together eight years earlier changed both their lives and resulted in a secret she can no longer hide. But being with Damián reawakens feelings she wants buried—and stirs up an onslaught of disturbing flashbacks that leave her shaken to the core with little hope of ever being a sexual being again.

Damián has his own dragons to fight, but has never forgotten the one perfect day he spent with Savannah in a cave at the beach. He will go to the ends of the earth to protect Savi and her daughter, but can never be the whole man she deserves after a firefight in Iraq. Besides, the trauma of war and resulting PTSD has led him to find his place as the Masters at Arms Club's favorite sadist. Savi needs someone gentle and loving, not the broken man he has become. But he sees that the lifestyle he's come to embrace also can help Savi regain control of her life and sexuality. How can he not help redirect her negative thoughts and actions if she needs him?

My Review -

First I have to say you have to read the Rescue Me series in order starting with Masters at Arms. The first book in the series introduces you to the characters and you learn about their background, their triumphs, their heartaches and the very special familial bond that develops between them where they look out for one another. Nobody's Perfect is the 4th book in the series focusing on the sexy and sweet former Marine Damian whose life completely changed after his tour in Iraq and Savi. The demure, innocent woman whose past of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of her father has made her completely shut down sexually and left her with the inability to feel any sensations on her body.

As Kallpyso mentions at the beginning of this book, it will include Savi's flashbacks of her sexual abuse and sexual slavery that may be difficult to read for some people who have experienced similar traumatic incidents. However, Kallpyso does a beautiful job of getting at the heart of the emotions that Savi tries to process as she tries to regain control over her body and life.

Damian is the ultimate boyfriend that any girl would be lucky to have. A tall, gorgeous Hispanic man with long black hair and a goatee who loves to wear leather while riding his Harley with a tender, loving, loyal side and a heart of gold (Lord have mercy he just oozes sensuality, I want him now). After losing his foot in Iraq and the PTSD episodes that still grip him he embraces sadism as a way of gaining control in his life. Now I will admit when I learned he became a sadist my heart broke because it hurt to see the sweet Damian from Masters At Arms transformed to someone who could inflict pain. Rest assured Kallypso came through on her promise that Damian is still the sweet, gentle man and not a natural-born sadist (he doesn't get off inflicting pain or hearing a woman scream), but works as a Service Top to help masochists obtain the pain level they need in order to feel again and get out of their sometime catatonic states due to triggers of past abuse. He approaches it as a mission and feels a sense of purpose and accomplishment after a session is over, which is what he gets out of it.

Now with Damian and Savi reunited Damian is determined to help Savi anyway he can because he never stopped loving her. The beautiful thing about this story is that it focuses on the growing development of trust, companionship and love, not jumping straight into sex. Damian tries to bring Savi closer into his world by helping her develop a connection between her mind and body that has been shut down since the beginning of her abuse. Never once did Damian force himself on Savi or impose his needs on her, but focused primarily on her needs. There were many scenes where Damian focused on Savi achieving an orgasm and even though he had a raging hard-on he never thought about his need of release (Damian is so PERFECT even though for the longest time he couldn't see it himself.

This book is absolutely amazing full of tender moments of trust, acceptance and hope. There are heartbreaking scenes that will make you cry and passionate love that demonstrates that true love can be expressed in so many different ways that it will sometimes leave you breathless. One more thing I have to say is there is nothing better then seeing a bunch of Marines inflicting righteous justice. God you have to love the Marines!

I have to say that the Rescue Me series is a masterpiece of work because in Nobody's Perfect it left me glued to the pages, thinking about the book whenever I was not reading it and craving it as if I was having withdrawal symptoms. Most of all, the characters feel so real and the imagery of the scenes are so detailed that you truly feel that Damian and Savi REALLY do exist and are living life out there, somewhere, and you can't wait to see them again. I didn't want the book to end because it felt like saying goodbye to dear friends and not knowing when you will see them again which left an ache in my heart. Till then I will try to find other books to escape in, but I will always keep these characters in a special place in my heart.
