It's not easy being a Vampire Angel.
No one knows that better than Trond Sigurdsson. In the centuries since he last went out drinking and wenching with his Viking buds, Trond has been a gladiator, a cowboy, a ditch digger . . . even a sheik. But now he's the baddest of them all: a kick-ass Navy SEAL kicking butts of terrorist immortals with the help of his hotter-than-Hades female partner, police officer-turned-Special Forces operative Nicole Tasso—whom Trond dearly hopes to "partner" with very shortly in a whole different way.
The "cop" part of Nicole tells her there's something bizarre about her gorgeous godlike teammate. But her "all-woman" side can't help wondering how great it would be to have a virile Viking in her bed. Trond has secrets galore, but Nicole feels certain she can dig them out—and really get to the heart of this powerful, unnerving stranger whom she may be risking her soul to love.
Trond Sigurdsson is a fairly unique creature, he's a Viking, a Vampire, and an Angel - otherwise known as a Vangel. His purpose is to protect innocents and destroy the Lucipires (demon vampires). His most recent mission has him in the midst of a SEAL training camp where he meets female seal (WEAL) Nicole Tasso. Nicole is a peppy, motivated, organized little piece of happiness - or so she seems at first. As Sigurdsson uncovers the most recent Lucipire plot, Nicole is accidently dragged into it along the way.
I had a very hard time rating this book. The story was fantastic, but there were times it seemed to be making fun of itself - trying a little too hard add humor that wasn't necessarily needed. If you could take that little bit out (which some people may really like - just not my thing), then the story was quite the steamy adventure. Sigurdsson and Nicole are one hot couple and find themselves in all sorts of places they can take advantage of it. With so many twists and turns that I was surprised by events many times, without losing the core of the story. If you're one that likes a little odd humor mixed in, you will love this.
