Anne Mason thinks she’ll be safe living in the Midwest building a wind farm. She may be dead wrong. Someone is dumping bodies in her corn field and telling Anne they are gifts—for her!

As the body count rises, Anne realizes a cold-blooded serial killer is patiently waiting and watching her every move. And he won’t stop until he ends her life. It is clear there are no limits to this killer’s thirst for revenge or how far he will go to get it.

Michael Brandt, the ruggedly handsome new County Prosecutor, is the last person Anne can trust, but may offer her only chance at survival from a psychopathic killer. But will she survive the passion that rages between them?

Anne Mason and Michael Brandt meet under not so great circumstances - he is her ex-husband's divorce lawyer.  Regardless of circumstances, Michael is instantly drawn to Anne and her feisty personality.  When he finds that she is now running the farm near where he has just taken a County Prosecutor's job, he looks at it as his chance to get to know her better - but then the bodies begin to show up.

My only really big complaint was that these two seemed to fall for each other without a lot of background to back it up.  Just one day they suddenly want to be together - but can't because he's the prosecutor and she's a witness.  Anne is a little too head strong and seems to put herself at risk almost intentionally (at least to my mind), and Michael lets her get away with it - a little - so that he can come to her rescue - he hopes.  The mystery of who is killing people off was a great one and I had no clue who it  might have been until the very end.  The story and dialog between the characters is amazing - it was definitely  a very bright point in the book.
